Don't Leave Your Favorite Gift Recipient Crying 'Wii, Wii, Wii' All the Way Home This Holiday Season -- BestBuys.com Giving Away 3 Coveted Nintendo
(PRWeb) November 5, 2007 -- Across the country, one item is topping wish lists this holiday season. Both the young and the young-at-heart are whispering in Santa's ear that they'd like a Nintendo Wii for Christmas. Given the video game system's high demand and low supply, however, it'll take more than some flying reindeer to fulfill all those lofty wishes. Retail estimates predict that more than a few Nintendo Wii coveters will be left disappointed come Christmas morning. In the spirit of the season, BestBuys.com, an online retailer of brand-name technological gadgets and gizmos, is sponsoring a Nintendo Wii Giveaway. Throughout the month of November, entrants will be registered to win one of three Nintendo Wii game consoles. Wannabe Nintendo Wii owners who would like to toss their name into the Nintendo Wii Giveaway hat can do so online at http://www.bestbuys.com/contest.php
Industry experts are asserting that the Nintendo Wii will be one of the most hard-to-get gift items this holiday season. And Nintendo itself isn't denying the validity of those claims. In fact, in a recent interview, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime admitted, "I can tell you on the record we won't" [be able to meet demand for the Nintendo Wii this holiday season." There's nothing like a grinch to spoil Christmas, but Nintendo appears poised to play that evil part this December.
The official start of the holiday season hasn't even begun yet and already some of the nation's largest retailers are out of Nintendo Wii stock. Amazon.com currently has the video game system available only through third-party sellers while Wal-Mart doesn't even have the basic Nintendo Wii console up for sale on its Web site. Demand is so high, in fact, that Web sites have been set up solely to track the availability of the Nintendo Wii. If portals like WiiTracker.com are any indication, securing a Nintendo Wii is going to be next to impossible for the average buyer this holiday season.
What are Nintendo Wii-hungry game players to do? They could get into bidding wars on eBay, shell out double the retail price for a system, and then hope and pray their non-guaranteed Nintendo Wii works?if it ever arrives at all, that is. Or, they can log on to BestBuys.com and drop their name into the Nintendo Wii Giveaway pot free of charge. The contest will take place from November 1 through November 31, with additional entries awarded to users who refer a friend.
"Sure, we could double the price of these three Nintendo Wii systems and put them up for sale on our Web site. They'd be gone in a matter of seconds and we could pocket the profits. We could also charge an entry fee to compensate the cost. Those sales strategies, however, wouldn't be in the spirit of the Christmas season. We'd rather light up the eyes of three lucky winners and make a trio of Nintendo Wii wishes come true," explains Best Buys' spokesperson, Shane Atlas. Somewhere in Internet land, the grinch's heart will three sizes some day soon.
