SD cards are available anywhere. Although you can buy one from Nintendo if you so desire. A good size to get is a 1GB card, (about $25 to $30 ),it has plenty of space, plus you can always erase the card and re-use it.

Batteries; Like most electronic devices, the controllers tend to use batteries fairly regularly. To save you're self from buying new batteries constantly, and from running out of juice in the middle of an epic battle. Buy rechargeable NiMH batteries and a battery charger, in the long run you'll save a bundle, and will always have fresh batteries ready to go.

Wii Points; Wii points are one of the draws of the Wii Virtual Console. The Wii Points are good to have if you plan to buy Nintendo's classic games, yes; they are backward compatible as well. The Wii Points function like real currency. 100 wii points equals 1 dollar. Buy the points via Nintendo's prepaid cards or from its online store. You can also get wii points free online by taking surveys and as promotional give a-way's by individual companies.
